Counter has same count in multiple joomla articles

I may just be missing something here but it doesn't appear that using the {nice1} in different articles on a joomla site creates a separate instance of the +1 button. For example, I created two articles this morning. After creating the first, I clicked the +1. When I created the second article and inserted the {nice1}, the article appeared with the +1 button but said that I had already +1ed the article. Is there a way to control the counter when it appears in separate articles?

Your not missing anything. It really should be as simple as placing a {nice1} tag in each article. Each article should get it's own count. For example, on one of my articles I have a +1 count of 189. Just now, I created a new article and entered {nice1} into the page content. I then clicked the save button. When I viewed the new article from the front end, the +1 count was 0.

It certainly appears that the two are linked.

just a follow up note, it appears if you have the {nice1} code in different articles on different pages, you are correct. However, if they are in different articles on the same page, then they seem to be tied together.

this one is not linked to the +1 counters on the news page.

Hi Barry,

Yes, this makes sense. The +1 counter uses the page URL to gather it's count data from Google. So, if you have multiple counters on the same page, they will all display the same count for the page you are on.

My recommendation is to place your counters below the read more line in your article editor.

This does work as you suggest. However, for short newsflash articles the read more is probably never going to be clicked. It is interesting, if I redirect folks to the article from Google+ or Facebook, the article appears on its own page. I will dig a little more but thanks for your help. I will post anything that I find that offers a workaround.

Not sure if you had tried this but just learned that if you put the {nice1} tag as the title for a menu, the extension picks this up and displays the Google +1 button neatly on each page in a top bar menu position. Check out www.sequencesoftware.com and go ahead and give it the +1 while you are there

That's really neat! Thanks for the share. I haven't tried it yet, but, I beat you could get a similar effect by placing the {nice1} tag in a custom HTML module and displaying on all the pages that way.
