PayPal error after clicking button

Postby Adrian232 » Sat Jan 16, 2010 4:16 pm

I recently purchased the Nice PayPal Button Plugin, installed and enabled successfully using my PayPal login email address.

I put a donate button in my article, and the button shows up fine. However, clicking on this button renders this error in PayPal:

We cannot process this transaction because there is a problem with the PayPal email address supplied by the seller. Please contact the seller to resolve the problem. If this payment is for an eBay listing, you can contact the seller via the "Ask Seller a Question" link on the listing page. When you have the correct email address, payment can be made at http://www.paypal.com.

I thought this might be because I have a Premier account and not a Business level account, so I upgraded it in PayPal. However, I am still getting this error...

Ok, nevermind. I figured out the problem. The email address filtering needed to have a lower order than the Nice PayPal Button plugin.

However, there is one thing I want to be able to change on the paypal side of things: After a donate is about to be paid, there is an optional text box next to the item which defaults to "Add a special instruction to the seller". I want to be able to edit this text to say "add a note to the website" so that then in each purchase we can put this note in next to their name in Joomla on a list of donators.

Ya, The email cloaking plugin issue is a common stumbling block. Fortunately, it is silly easy to resolve. I am glad that you got it figured out.

As for the note box on PayPal's transaction page, at best it can be turned off. Other than that, PayPal does not extend any control over it. I do have an alternate solution for you though. If you use a tag similar to the one below, you will get a small text field above the donation button on your site page. This text field will allow your donors to enter a note and that note will be transmitted with the transaction info to you.

{nicepaypal:donate|10.00|Feed the Children|||||1||field;note;Add a note to the website;100}

~ Enjoy!

Hi,

Here's the deal, there is a plugin called Email Cloaking. It is designed to scramble exposed email addresses in any article. When it sees the PayPal account email address in the button form, it scrambles it. Thus, the scrambled email address gets submitted to PayPal and PayPal can't make sense of it.

Fixing this issue is very simple. It is outlined in the Nice PayPal Button documentation under "Getting Started," step 12, http://trinitronic.com/index.php/Downlo ... ilcloaking

Here is the excerpt:
"12. Important - Email Cloaking is a default feature of Joomla. Unless you have specifically disabled it, it is enabled on your site. If this is the case then, in the Plugin Manager, you will need to change the order of the Nice PayPal Button plugin so that it appears below the Email Cloaking plugin in the plugin list. Otherwise, the PayPal buttons that the Nice PayPal plugin creates won't work properly."

FYI, you have to got to Administrator>>Extensions>>Plugin Manger. It is easier if you filter the list by the type "content." then you can use the arrows or the numbers that control the list order to move the Nice PayPal Button plugin below the Email Cloaking plugin. If you are using the numbers to set the ordering, don't forget to click the little disk icon to save your settings.

How do I verify my paypal account without a bank account or a credit/debit card? I was wondering if you can verify your paypal account without a bank account or a credit/debit card. I heard that you can go get a prepaid VISA card and verify it with that, but I am not sure.

I am not familiar with the specifics of all of PayPal's policies. You may want to take a look at the getting started page here, https://personal.paypal.com/cgi-bin/mar ... ayPal_work
