Script error returned from paypal

Postby lsiemon » Tue Jul 19, 2011 11:38 am

I ca not make it work. I have uninstalled and re-installed.

After pushing the paypal pay now button I get this:

<script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> <!-- var prefix = 'mailto:'; var suffix = ''; var attribs = ''; var path = 'hr' + 'ef' + '='; var addy86286 = 'ceci' + '@'; addy86286 = addy86286 + 'consolidated' + '.' + 'net'; document.write( '<a ' + path + '\'' + prefix + addy86286 + suffix + '\'' + attribs + '>' ); document.write( addy86286 ); document.write( '<\/a>' ); //--> </script><script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> <!-- document.write( '<span style=\'display: none;\'>' ); //--> </script>This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it <script language='JavaScript' type='text/javascript'> <!-- document.write( '</' ); document.write( 'span>' ); //--> </script>

Hi,

Can you post a link where I can see this issue first hand. The odd thing about this matter is that the Nice PayPal Button plugin does not use any JavaScript. Yet, the code jumble that you posted clearly shows references to JavaScript. If I can experience the matter for myself, I will be able to make more sense of it.

Also, if you can post the button tag that you are using it will be very helpful.

Ah, I think I have it figured out....

You must be using an older version of the plugin. The older versions used to conflict with Joomla's email protection plugin. The email protection plugin would scramble email addresses in such a way that spambots could not read the email.

To fix this try this:

1. Go to Administrator>>Extensions>>Plugin Manager.
2. Filter the list by "System" (use the drop down menu in the upper left of the list).
3. Find System - Nice PayPal Button and change its order number, so that it will be the last in the list.
4. Then click the little icon at the top of the order column to submit your order numbering.

This should resolve the issue as the email protection plugin will run before the Nice PayPal Button plugin. In this way, the email address in the PayPal Button will not get scrambled.

You and I reached the same conclusion at the same time. I am using a 2 year old version and when I updated Joomla it quit working.

For anyone else who is having the same problem, drop down extensions, go to install/uninstall and disable email cloaking.

Thanks for the quick reply

As a update, I tried your suggestion and it worked, I was able to turn Cloaking back on.

Thanks again
