Nice Pay Pal Plugin "Major Conflict" with JotCache!

Postby Campbell » Wed Jun 22, 2011 10:20 pm

I am asking this question because it appears there is some kind of abominably with the Pay Now Button Appearing and disappearing on my site and it appears to circle around when I have JotCache Enabled.

At times the Plugin Displays the Pay Pal Pay Now Button in proper format, other Times it will just display the Text Code I have been beating my head against the wall trying to isolate the problem and this situation is really starting to piss me off! Please don't interpret that last tid bit as being rude or aggressive in any form, I am just stating how I feel about this weird situation.

Here is my website and the Page that I just created tonight to accommodate this plugin specifically. http://www.communitycomputerrepair.com/ ... vices.html

Here is the code used to implement the plugin on the Article Page:

<div style="text-align:center;">{nicepaypal:pay;http://www.communitycomputerrepair.com/images/btn_paynowCC_LG.gif|field;Enter Amount|Computer Repair Services}</div>

I have followed your instructions to the note, and have checked and re-check them on about 7 occasions. My website is not a eCommerce site, I do computer work for a living and have the rare occasion here and there when I have use for a plugin and pay pal ease of use for my customers so its just a solitary Pay Now method for my Pay Pal Business account.

Please help! I you require a closer look I can set up a limited user account for you in the admin panel seeing how I am the web Master and owner of the site.

Currently, I have JotCache Disabled. I want to see if this manifests again overnight and duplicates itself in the AM when I get up!

Re: Question: Is there a conflict with this Plugin & JotCache?

Postby Campbell » Wed Jun 22, 2011 11:34 pm

OK, I uninstalled the Plugin and reinstalled the Plugin and manually typed the proper syntax parameters as I posted before this time with Jot Cache enabled as with the prior install I had Jot Cache and my security plugin disabled, I do this for all updates and installs. JOTCACHE is the Problem that is conflicting with your Plugin! I used the specific code examples from your website and it duplicates with your written examples as well as the code I posted above each and every time id I click the page link a second time or log out of the admin panel! Now I have disabled JotCache and the problem is gone even if I repeatedly clink on the page link from the left Nav Menu as I was doing before which would yield strictly the text code.

I have searched this forum as well as JDEC and I have yet to find a single complaint in regards to this specific conflict. Judging by the praise you receive and the level of detail that you provide each individual that posts on your forum I would certainly tend to be inclined that you will be all over this like white on rice

Anyway, I love this plugin but, my site speed is far more important to my site as a whole and I am sure just about anyone in their right mind would agree? So I am hoping to here back from you in regards to this situation by tomorrow and hopefully you will have explored this conflict personally as many, many people rely on JotCache to keep their site speed at exceptable levels, I know that I do!

I have checked my site page with the Nice Pay Pal Button repeatedly after once again disabling JotCache around 3:00am this morning and also repeatedly this morning since 9:45am in Fierfox, Safari and IE-9 in every instance since disabling JotCache the Plugin Works and displays properly without issue!

Michael,

Could you please chime in on this situation so that we may move forward towards a resolve?

Thank You

Hi Campbell,

You are correct, this is the first I have heard of this issue. I am not too familiar with JotCache. So, I don't know exactly what it is doing that is different than Joomla's standard page handling. It sounds to me though, that it must bypass some of the steps that Joomla performs when building a page, specifically it is not triggering some of the system plugins, and just pulling the flat html page from the cache memory.

Curious, have you tried using Joomla's native caching instead of JotCache? Do you receive similar results?

Hi, Michael

Let me update you on the situation. This morning, I removed jotcache and installed the most recent version, I keep current and on top of the limited amount of plugins that I do use on my joomla site for obvious reasons. Upon installing the most recent version unfortunately, I was able to duplicate the issues yet again. However, I have anow excluded plugins from being cached in JotCache which was not present in the prior version under modual exclusions but is currently a feature in the most recent one. To my dismay, I find yet again that the situation was duplicated, so I disabled Jotcache and used the Joomla clear cache and expired cache, logged out fully cleaned my browsers cache with ccleaner went to my website and the Nice Pay Pal Plugin of course was working properly without JotCache Enabled. I logged back into the Admin section Turned Jotcache back on and mad a point of the first page being cached was the page that I had created for your Plugin. Hopefully, without crowing too soon, knock on wood, Nice Pay Pal Plugin has been working without issue all day! I have been working on my website, SEO and my Blog today....(all day) and have been checking the consistency of my new found results very frequently all day and night and low and behold...I have fixed it as it would appear..Hopefully! :D

No, I have not nor did I attempt too either. Reason being is that JotCache speeds my site up like 4 times faster than the cache system incorporated into Joomla does and letting go of JotCache for the inferior Joomla one is not what I would consider worth while. One requirement of using JotCache is that the Cache feature in the control panel stays enabled while it is also required that the Plugin portion of the Cache Mechanism of Joomla is Diasabled.

Oh, that is great news! I hope the fix sticks, so to speak. I will be out of the office for a few days. If you continue to have difficulties, I will happily ply my craft to the issue upon my return. ;)

In any event, please keep me informed of your findings, as I want to make sure that you are successful in your endeavor.

I didn't know this about JotCache. It is good to know. I have never really tinkered with caching too much, but perhaps it is time to start!

Michael,

It's been 3 days now and I have yet to have a single hiccup or problematic behavior with the current config. I have been working on my site and blog for the past few days and have been checking it quite regularly throughout the day and evening.

I am not using jotcache, but i'm having the same problem where only the code and not the paypal button is displaying. In fact, the button displays on the home page, but i also have three other buttons on another page that won't display. Click below to see what i mean:

http://trobazwebdesign.com - Home page

http://trobazwebdesign.com/index.php/paypal.html

These both worked when i first installed the plugin.

Any ideas/solutions?

Hi,

Well, I checked your button tag on my test server and it worked fine. So, that is not it. What other extension did you install after the Nice PayPal Button?

Hi,

I would be happy to take a look at your installation of the extension. I would need a temporary Super User account username and password. If you are interested, you can email me the information through my sites contact page.

Let me know.
