install error

Getting the following error "Error! Could not find an XML setup file in the package"
using Joomla 1.5.15

Hi Colin,

This is an easy fix. You need to unzip the download file first. Inside you will find 4 versions of the extension.

Install files in original download package:

• j1.5-pkg_nicetweets_v2.22-full.zip
• j1.5-pkg_nicetweets_v2.22-upgrade.zip
• j1.6-pkg_nicetweets_v2.22-full.zip
• j1.6-pkg_nicetweets_v2.22-upgrade.zip

Use one of the versions with the prefix "j1.5-" to install the extension on a Joomla 1.5 site. Use one of the versions with the prefix "j1.6-" to install the extension on a Joomla 1.6 site.

If this is a first time installation of the extension, you will need to use an extension package with the suffix "-full.zip". Alternatively, if you are upgrading an existing installation of the extension (you need to uninstall it first), use an extension package with the suffix "-upgrade.zip".

For example, for a first time installation on a Joomla 1.5 site, you would use the file named j1.5-pkg_nicetweets_v2.22-full.zip. Note the prefix and suffix of the file name in bold.

Hi M,
Back again.
Followed the instructions and all went well till creating a twitter account from the app.
I have a twiter account and when the app takes me to the http://dev.twitter.com/.
I login and the app takes me back to the app admin.
I.e it doesnt bring up the Allow Nice Tweets access so i cant allow it.
Re followed the instructions but its got me beat.
Any ideas.

Hi puttowin,

Yes, the Twitter App registration can be a bit frustrating. It was much easier before they implemented their new(ish) security protocol. There was no registration required back then. But I suppose the plus side is that it is much harder for hooligans to hijack people's Twitter accounts. No worries though, I will do my best to get you fixed up.

The extension app is most likely already registered with Twitter. Try This:

1. In your browser go to http://dev.twitter.com/
2. At the top right of the page click "Sign In" and log in to your twitter dev account.
3. At the top right of the page click "Your Apps".
4. You will be taken to a page with a list of all of your registered apps. If your extension app is already registered, you should see it on the page.
5. Click your extension app name.
6a. You will now see a details page for your extension app.
6b. On this page you will see your apps consumer key, consumer secret and call back URL.
7a. You now have all of the information you need to proceed from step 7 & 8 of the Nice Tweets documentation http://trinitronic.com/index.php/Downlo ... ation.html
7b. Verify that you have properly transfered (copied & pasted) the consumer key, consumer secret and call back URL into your extensions settings at Joomla Administrator>>Nice Tweets>>Settings.

Still stuck.
Same problem.
log in to twitter vie nicetweets admin then straight back to the admin. No allow button to click,
