plugin within a module

Postby clintonf » Wed Nov 18, 2009 1:49 pm

Hi there,
I just purchased this product for jalamawines.com and am having an integration issue I'm hoping you can help me with. I can get it to work within a basic article, but for aesthetic purposes I want it to be in the Right module position. Now I'm still pretty new to Joomla, but my understanding so far is that the only way I can have it there is to add the code to the body of a custom module. When I do that, the code does not work. Is there a work around or perhaps, another way to accomplish this?

And I guess there is no way to use my own buttons either, eh? :-) They're buttons are pretty big. My current ones I use with Paypal...

Thanks!

The standard release of the plugin only supports tag replacement in articles. I have a modified version which supports tag replacement in custom modules. I need to make a small change to it. After which, I can send it to you. I will be able to make the change and send it to you as early as tomorrow.

Oh, and, you are correct, there is no support for custom buttons.

Hey,

I have finished with the modifications to the Nice Google Checkout plugin. This modified version will allow for tag replacement in custom modules. Please email me your paypal transaction id or email address, so that I can send it to you.

Thanks.

Hi Michael,

I would like to be able to put the plugin into a custom module as well. Would it be possible for you to send me the file as well? I just bought the nice google checkout plugin last week. Thanks.

Second issue I am having is that the coding at the moment don't work. I want to sell digital products and I am not sure about all the fields to fill in. Here is what I have put together, could you tell me what I am missing or doing wrong?
{nicecheckout:14.99|Best Offer…Purchase both "Thunderstorms & Shrunks" & "Fearless" each a downloadable 30-minute, two-epiosode audio book for only 14.99, AND receive our 20-page coloring & puzzle book for FREE.|http://storytimewithzooch.com/images/stories/bestoffer_noprice.png|true|http://storytimewithzooch.com/images/stories/audio/zooch/Thunderstorms_ShrunksPart1.mp3||}

The error that comes up (I am using my sandbox account to test it with): Oops!
TREO Communications has sent Google a shopping cart with errors in it. We'll contact them to ask that they fix this problem. As this could be a temporary issue, you can go back in your browser to try checking out again.

Look forward to hearing from you. :D

I think your tag title exceeds Google's maximum length. Try something like "Thunderstorms & Shrunks & Fearless" instead of "Best Offer…Purchase both "Thunderstorms & Shrunks" & "Fearless" each a downloadable 30-minute, two-epiosode audio book for only 14.99, AND receive our 20-page coloring & puzzle book for FREE."

Also, it looks like you have entered a URL to an MP3 file in the weight field this would definitely cause an error.

Hi Michael,

Thanks for getting back to me. I made the tag shorter and that didn't help.

You also said that I had switched the digital item and weight around, but switching them around makes the button stop working. It says in your documentation this is the order:
{nicecheckout:item price|item title|image URL|shipping price|digital item|weight} - but I can't get it to work.

With this combo I can get the button to work, but don't get any further than to an error page (with the digital item URL and the weight switched, the button doesn't work at all):
{nicecheckout:3.99|"Thunderstorms & Shrunks"|http://storytimewithzooch.com/images/stories/bestoffer1.png|false|http://storytimewithzooch.com/images/stories/audio/zooch/Thunderstorms_ShrunksPart2.mp3|}

which doesn't work at all.

Can you please tell me what I put in the 'shipping price' field (when there is no shipping fee) and what I put in the 'weight' field (when there is no weight)? And what is the correct order of the fields?

Thanks again.

This is the correct syntax for what you are trying to do.

{nicecheckout:3.99|Thunderstorms & Shrunks|http://storytimewithzooch.com/images/stories/bestoffer1.png||true}

I think perhaps you may misunderstand the role of "digital item." The digital item field is simply a flag that lets Google Checkout know that they don't need to collect any shipping money or information from the buyer. It does not facilitate digital downloads, other than to collect payment.

Thanks Michael,

I did misunderstand what the plugin was capable of. I should have asked first before purchasing it. I guess, I have to figure out some other solution for selling downloadables. :(

It looks like Google shopping cart will do it for me.
