sending to a non-UK address

Postby pjolding » Wed May 04, 2011 8:30 am

Hi,

Currently I can't accept orders from people with non-UK delivery addresses. The customer receives an error message. Can you fix this?

I've had a quick look at the google checkout website and found this
https://checkout.google.com/support/sel ... swer=77797
Perhaps you need to add <allowed areas> to solve this? All this is beyond my computing capabilities so can't really investigate further

Any help will be much appreciated

Hi,

International shipping has been an on going issue with this implementation of the Google Checkout cart. We are aware of the issue and have made numerous attempts to correct it. It would appear that Google does not support international shipping with the manor in which the plugin is implementing the Google buttons and Google Cart. What is particularly frustrating is that this could be easily remedied if Google would simply add an "Allow International Shipping" option to their merchant profiles. Unfortunately, such an option does not exist (at least to the best of my knowledge).

I will look into this issue again to ensure that nothing has change with Google's API in the past few months. I will let you know if I discover anything new.

Hi,

Just to keep you updated, I may have found a solution this time around. I have not verified that it works yet. I will be testing it over the next day or two.

I will let you know more as soon as I do.

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that I am still working on this. I had to preform some impromptu server maintenance yesterday, which threw me off my pace a bit. I should have a definitive answer for you early next week.

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that I have just run a successful test with the Nice Google Checkout plugin and an international address. So far, everything is looking tip top.

Over the next 24 hours, I will be adding the administrative controls for this and packaging it up. After which I will email you a copy of the new version.

Hi Paul,

I am still working on how to implement different shipping per country/region. I am able to set the different shipping rates. However, there are a lot of variables and I want to make sure I set it up correctly.

Hi Paul,

It's good news, bad news time.

The good news is that I have The Nice Google Checkout plugin setting flat rate shipping to allow for international buyers. Heck, you can even set it to include different rates for different countries, exclude some countries from some rates and use the same rate for multiple different countries. So, overall the shipping rate feature is much more robust than it was before.

Now for the bad news. The bad news is that currently, the international shipping rate does not increment as more items are added to the cart. Which, in my humble opinion, is less than desirable.

I think I have worked out the details for incrementing the international shipping rates on a per item basis. However, it is going to take me more time before I have perfected the code.

Sorry for the delay.
