Shipping Issue on Second Item

Hi,

Did a search on the forum with no luck.

Basically what I just discovered is that the reduced shipping for a second item is only working for the exact item, not other items in the drop list.

For example, drop list options are:

Color Option1 - 50.00 USD
Color Option2 - 50.00 USD
Color Option3 - 50.00 USD
Color OptionN - 50.00 USD

Product is all the same, only difference is color. Say shipping cost for 1 item is $20, and additional units is $10 each.

Right now, if you buy:

1 each of Color Option1 - shiping is $20
1 each of Color Option2 - shipping is $20

What I would prefer is:

1 each of Color Option1 - shiping is $20
1 each of Color Option2 - shipping is $10

Not sure the best way to address this goal.

If I overlooked a thread, please advise, and I will be more than happy to read it.

Hi bkmitt,

That sounds correct. Have you explored the option of using PayPal's shipping calculators (set up in your PayPal account profile)? They are a bit more robust than the plugin's on-board shipping options. The Nice PayPal Button supports the usage of PayPal's shipping calculators. You can leave the shipping amounts blank in the button tag and then include a per item weight in each button tag.

I think with PayPal's shipping calculators, you should be able to add a base rate or flat rate and then add additional shipping charges based on weight, or number of items.

Hi,

Thanks for the insight. Was trying to avoid using paypal functions as little as possible, and use button plugin as much as possible. (-:

So from your reply, it sounds as if I have no other current option than to use the paypal shipping calculator to achieve my goal.

Any changes on the horizon regarding this for the button plugin, or is it just too complex an issue to address, or maybe just too low of a priority also?

Ya, it sounds like you got it. I left the more robust shipping functionality to PayPal. This was a design decision, to help maintain the light weight nature of the Nice PayPal Button plugin.
